Know Your Time Line
Typically your new cabinets will be delivered to your home before we start. You can store them in your garage or inside the house.
First, we'll remove your old kitchen cabinets, countertops, and flooring. If needed, we'll also take down any walls or bar tops. A Contractor will need to handle electrical and plumbing adjustments.
Next, we'll install the new cabinets, which usually takes about two days. While doing this, we'll check for any damage from shipping and ensure everything is there.
Once the New cabinets are installed, we'll install your new flooring. We'll also schedule a template appointment for your countertops, which is a quick 15-30 minute process. If you're providing the sink and faucet, we'll need them at this point. Countertop fabrication takes about two weeks and happens at our facility.
When the countertops are ready, we'll set up a time for installation. On that day, we'll install your sink and prepare for your faucet. Please have them ready. We recommend waiting 24 hours before connecting the plumbing to the sink.
If you've chosen a backsplash, we can install it now.
This entire process can typically take up to 4-6 weeks depending on the extent of the remodel.
Final Inspection
If you notice any scratches or damage on your cabinets during the process, don't worry; it's covered by the warranty. We'll do a walk through of the cabinets once they're installed, and then another one after the flooring and countertops are complete. If we find any issues, we'll order replacements. Once they arrive, our cabinet installer will make a final visit to complete the installation. We'll do a final walk through to ensure everything is done to your satisfaction.
I Don’t Have A Sink or Cook Top!
This is correct, you will not have a kitchen sink or cook top until your counter tops are installed. This is probably the hardest part of the remodel. Here are some ideas to help you get through.
If you have a utility sink, or the option to install a utility sink, now would be a good time to do it! This is an inexpensive solution that will help keep your sanity.
Plan for a month of paper cups and paper plates. Just pretend your back in your collage days and enjoy the simple life. In a few weeks you’ll be back up and running in your beautiful new kitchen!
If you don’t have a utility sink, you can use a bathtub to wash larger pots and pans. Make sure to put any large food items in the trash before putting the dishes in the tub to prevent any drain clogs.
If you have an electric slide in range, you can plug it in and use it before your counter tops are installed. using a small piece of ply wood next to the stove can give you a temporary counter top to use while cooking. Your local hardware store should sell plywood sheets cut to 2’x4’, which will work perfectly on your cabinets. Just be careful not to spill anything into your new cabinets!
Take it to the grill! Save your sanity on washing pots and pans by cooking as much as you can out on the grill. You will still have some prep dishes to wash, but there is a lot less scrubbing!
The weeks will fly by. It is a sacrifice that is 100% worth it!
